Joanneum Research Forschungsgesellschaft mbH
OANNEUM RESEARCH Forschungsgesellschaft mbH is a leading international research organisation that develops solutions and technologies for businesses and industry covering a wide range of sectors. As an INNOVATION COMPANY focused on applied research and technology development, it plays a key role in facilitating the transfer of technology and knowledge.
The technological and scientific basis of the institute DIGITAL includes web and internet technologies, image, video and acoustic data-analytics along with remote sensing, communication and navigation technologies.
Amongst other research topics DIGITAL is investigating in new and innovative application fields of AutoID (RFID) and embedded sensor systems in order to realize the Internet of Things for the industry. In this R&D area DIGITAL coordinates the flagship project SeCoS (Secure Contactless Sphere – Smart RFID-Technologies for a Connected World).
With its high scientific expertise, the institute MATERIALS provides its customers access to the latest technologies for incorporation in innovative products and services. MATERIALS is the first point of contact for technology and process development in the fields of green photonics and electronics, structured (biomimetic) surfaces, piezoelectric sensors and energy harvesters, the large-scale production of organic layers (roll-to-roll, silk screening), (visual) chemical and biosensors, laser production engineering, aerosol and inkjet printing as well as laser and plasma-supported vacuum coating procedures.
Role and Key Contribution
- Printed and Organic Electronics: We develop new materials, processes and functional (nano) structures for printed and organic large area electronics.
- Industrial Internet: These technologies include data-analytics by using embedded technology, sensor networks and sensing technology, RFID and ID recognition technology, and wireless communication network.
- Modelling and integration frameworks: modelling techniques and comprehensive integrated software tool chains for clearly defined industry use cases including the modelling of the system behavioural, computational, physical and/or human aspects of embedded cyber-physical systems.
