Silicon Austria Labs GmbH (SAL)
Silicon Austria Labs (SAL) is Austria's top research center for electronic based systems (EBS), which are the technological backbone of digitization.
At its three locations – Graz, Villach, Linz – SAL is conducting research in the areas of Microsystems, Sensor Systems, Power Electronics, Intelligent Wireless Systems and Embedded Systems to develop future-oriented solutions for industrial production, health, energy, mobility and safety. SAL works together with companies of different sizes and branches and offers industry-oriented research, a well-equipped research infrastructure and customized opportunities for cooperation. SAL is thus shaping the high-tech locations Austria and Europe and "unfolds the future".
Role and Key Contribution
- SAL Cooperation model: With our unique cooperation model, we enable our partners to implement their research idea not only quickly and unbureaucratically, but we cover 50 % of the project costs. The industry partner solely contributes 25 % in cash and 25 % in in-kind services.
- State-of-the-art infrastructure: In addition to numerous highly equipped labs (including a Metrology Lab, EBS Testing Lab and an Optics Lab), an ISO class 5 clean room for processing chips and wafers as well as using the latest packaging technologies is available for research.
- Research along the value chain: SAL develops future-oriented solutions for industrial production, health, energy, mobility and safety – from chip to intelligent system.
