TU Wien - Institute of Electrodynamics, Microwave and Circuit (EMCE)
The EMCE consists of four workgroups, Biosensors, Microwave Engineering, Magnetics and Circuit Engineering. The Circuit Engineering Group is investigating analogue nanometer CMOS circuits, CMOS and BiCMOS OEICs for various fields of applications with world leading results. It works in several projects funded by European Commission, by industry and by national programs.
In circuit engineering, there is measurement equipment for the characterization of the designed microchips, e. g. source-measure units (SMUs), signal generators, laser sources from 405nm to 1.55μm, digital pattern generators, network and spectrum analysers with a bandwidth of 3 GHz as well as 30 and 20 GHz, signal generators, digital sampling oscilloscopes as well as single-shot oscilloscopes (up to 40GS/s), bit pattern generators and bit error analysers (up to 40Gb/s), a logic analyser, a computer controlled National Instruments PXI measurement system and a 200mm wafer prober with thermochuck from 20 to 200°C, for instance.
Since 2000, the circuit engineering group does full custom analog design on the highest level and published 6 books more than 400 papers in international and IEEE journals as well as conference proceedings.
