This year's fall event focused on digital value creation in production in the area of electronics and software-based systems (ESBS) and took place by invitation of the Ebner Group in Leonding.
The morning session was dedicated to first-hand updates on the Chips JU, the European Chips Act, the Austrian Competence Center (AT-C3) and the IPCEI ME/CT. Additionally, Silicon Austria Labs (SAL) provided information about their most recent acitivities.
The 3 winners of the ESBS-Austria Young Academics 2024 call for Bachelor/Master theses on the topic 'Electronics and Software Based Systems' with focus on AI in and for chips were awarded by Chairman Stefan Rohringer and gave a short insight into their topics to an interested audience.
The following winners were rewarded with €2000,- each:
- Findenig Christian, TU Graz, Topic: Thermal Modeling for Predictive Maintenance of LEDs with Probabilistic Programming
- Zöhrer Christian, TU Graz, Topic: Artificial neural networks for NFC coupling system classification
- Kenbeek Vincent, TU Vienna, Topic: Improving Technical Documentation for Digital Design: Using Generative AI to Enhance Understanding of Timing Diagrams
The guided tour 'Crystal Growing at Ebner' was another highlight of the day!
The afternoon session was dedicated to the digitial value creation in production respectively data ecosystems: What kind of data space activities are available? How are they already used in/by the mechanical engineering industry? What are the requirements? Last but not least - how could the data be used in ESBS? How can benefit and new business models be generated?
Experts of Gaia-X, T-Systems International and the Pro2Future Cluster addressed these issues and provided most recent information to the excited ESBS-Austria audience.
